Israel 70 years of craft & design - catalogue cover page

In celebration of Israel’s 70th anniversary, Mingei International Museum, in collaboration with the House of Israel and its curator Smadar Samson mounted a magnificent exhibition of Israeli craft and design. From the show’s catalogue:
Epic style captures Dori Csengeri Imagination, and her Camelot haute couture necklace is a reminiscent of medieval gowns, fierce battle gear and dragons’ scales.  With its immaculate embellishments and its hand-stitched linen embossed with gold leaf, the necklace strives to find as Csengeri puts it, the “balance between timelessness and timeliness”.

City of Lights

During the holidays, Dori enjoyed the festive atmosphere in Paris. She visited museums, did some first class window shopping and even managed to find a few open restaurants…

One of her ‘must-visit’ stops was Psyché boutique, where Dori was happy to ‘reunite’ with her creations…

Dream Weaver

Fashion designer Yaron Minkowski is one of Israel’s leading designers as well as an old friend of Dori’s.  So when Dori received an invitation for the opening night of Yaron’s retrospective exhibition, she immediately RSVP “Yes!”.

The exhibition “Yaron Minkowski – Dream Weaver” presents the designer’s major milestones over the past 30 years. The various pieces provide a glimpse into Minkowski’s philosophy of design.  His works are exciting, surprising, and explore the relationship between form, color, texture, fabric, and anything in between….

RSVP Yes!

RSVP Yes! And don’t worry, we’ve got you covered:
Wedding Guest Attire, Decoded!

If the invite says “black tie”:
This is the next most formal wedding dress code and usually means the wedding is an evening affair.
You need to be in a floor-length gown, preferably a classic all-black ensemble. And remember, this is not the time to be ‘experimental’…..

If the invite says “formal” or “black tie optional”:
The wording here indicates something slightly less formal than black tie is acceptable. So, a tuxedo for him isn’t required, but the event is still formal enough for one to be appropriate…..
You have a choice of a long evening dress, a dressy suit or a formal cocktail-length dress.  Don’t carry an oversize bag. Use a clutch or or a mini shoulder bag.

If the invite says “cocktail” or “semi-formal”:
Take your cues from the time of the event: Wear darker, more formal colors for an evening wedding; opt for light colors and fabrics for a daytime event.
Wear something you’d feel is easy to dance in, BUT that you would not consider as your go-to ‘day-to-night’ ensemble.

If the invite says “casual” or “daytime”:
Generally, casual means anything goes—but jeans, shorts and tank tops are probably not appropriate unless they’re specifically noted as acceptable.
We suggest wearing a dress or a jumpsuit you might wear on a date during the week. And don’t forget to accessorize!

We hope that we helped you decipher the wedding codes, so you know what you’re getting yourself into…. and you arrive to the wedding appropriately—and stylishly—dressed to perfection for the celebration! 🙂
